Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce has announced his endorsement of Sam Crump, Republican candidate for Congress in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. Senator Pearce has gained international attention as the author of Arizona’s SB1070, which gives local law enforcement the ability to inquire about an individual’s legal status in this country.

Sam Crump said he was honored to be recognized as one of the leading conservatives by Senator Pearce, who he served with in the Arizona House of Representatives. “Senator Pearce has long been the leading voice on illegal immigration in Arizona. Now he is the leading voice in the United States,” said Crump.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of Senator Pearce,” Crump said. “He is one of the most decent people I know in politics, or anywhere for that matter.”

Sam Crump is in a crowded primary race for the 3rd Congressional District seat. There are ten candidates seeking the nomination on August 24th and Crump has garnered attention as the leading grassroots conservative and Tea Party candidate. He is also the only candidate in the race to endorse J.D. Hayworth for U.S. Senate.

Senator Pearce’s endorsement adds to the growing list of those who have endorsed Sam Crump for Congress including: U.S. Senator Fred Thompson; Congressman Tom Tancredo; Arizona Right to Life; and Arizona conservative leaders Marne & Rob Haney, Don Goldwater, Jim Weiers and many others.

With early voting starting on July 29th and primary election day falling on August 24th, I am humbly requesting all the support you can manage in the coming days and weeks. My campaign is working hard to get our message out across the entire district. Please tell friends, family and anyone you know that if they intend to send a true conservative to Congress, they would be best served casting their vote for me.

I am a family oriented conservative in every sense of the word. I served in the Army and have a beautiful family with my wife of 22 years and four children. I have a perfect pro-life voting record and was recently endorsed by the Arizona Right to Life. Additionally, the NRA has given me an “A rating” on second amendment issues. I am proud to say that my voting record in the Arizona legislature is consistently conservative. As a cosponsor of S.B. 1070, I took action to put an end to the illegal immigration that is tearing apart our wonderful state. For decades, the federal government failed to secure our border to the south, and it became time for lawmakers in Arizona to take matters into our own hands.

I oppose any and all forms of amnesty, which is why I am such a big supporter of S.B. 1070. As you can see, I fully believe in states’ rights. I will fight for the constitution, and especially the 10th amendment, to prevent this bloated, ever-expanding federal government from overreaching into state affairs.

If elected to Congress, my primary goals would be to repeal Obamacare, reduce taxes and reduce wasteful government spending. I would like to eliminate enormous, ineffective federal agencies such as the Department of Education. These gigantic bureaucracies are essentially flushing taxpayer dollars down the drain.

I am also honored to have so many important conservative figures endorse my campaign:

• U.S. Senator Fred Thompson
• U.S. Congressman Tom Tancredo
• Don Goldwater
• Marne Haney
• Rob Haney
• Bay Buchanan

Thank you for your consideration.

While serving in the Arizona State Legislature, Crump had a 100% Pro-Life voting record, and several of Arizona pro-life leaders are also involved in his campaign.
Accepting the endorsement, Crump said “I am always pleased to earn endorsements, whether they are from conservative heroes like former Congressman Tom Tancredo or former Senator Fred Thompson. But I’m particularly touched by Right to Life’s endorsement because the issue of life is one that I hold especially dear.” In Congress, Crump will work to return to a prohibition of taxpayer-funded abortions and a reversal of Obamacare and its abortion-related provisions. These will be just the first steps towards a Constitutional Amendment that protects the pre-born and their mothers from the atrocity that is abortion.

Not only has the Obama administration repeatedly failed to take the necessary steps to secure the border, they are now attempting to block Arizona from retaking control of the cities that have been infiltrated by mass numbers of illegal aliens. With the news that the Department of Justice has officially filed a lawsuit against our state, it is clear that an epic showdown with the federal government is about to take off.
With court dates scheduled over the next few weeks, there is growing concern that an activist judge will overstep his bounds and strike down a law that, according to a recent poll by Rasmussen, is supported by 70 percent of people in Arizona.

What is perhaps most interesting is that the core of the lawsuit is NOT concerned with allegations of discrimination or racial profiling. Despite the fact that high-ranking officials in the White House have been wringing their hands about Arizona bigotry for the past few months, the lawsuit actually poses a relatively narrow legal challenge. The Obama administration is thus guilty of extreme demagoguery. All along, they knew full well that the law I co-sponsored, S.B. 1070, does not call for racial profiling and has nothing to do with discrimination. It is a reasonable bill.

Perhaps Eric Holder realized that when he finally got around to reading it. The Attorney General also must have realized that any argument about civil rights would not hold water in the courts, so he completely abandoned that line of reasoning. The DOJ’s argument, instead, is focused on the idea that enforcement of immigration law is a federal responsibility. In the 1980s, this might have been a reasonable position to take. But the past few decades have seen our federal government completely ignore the porous border to the south.

The people of Arizona can no longer sit idly by and wait for the federal government to spring into action. Crime and drug smuggling have ravaged our communities. Eventually, it is time to say that enough is enough.

It is equally outrageous that taxpayer dollars will be squandered as the DOJ pursues this politically charged lawsuit. Something is particularly ironic about a government agency spending money on legal fees in order to sue a state that is attempting to rectify an egregious failure of the federal government. This administration is once again ignoring the people it swore to represent. It has ignored your calls for a fence. It has ignored your calls for public safety. And now it is ignoring the overwhelming majority of Arizonans (and Americans) that fully support S.B. 1070.

Since I am so confident that we will win in the courts, I welcome this legal challenge to Arizona’s immigration law. Common sense conservatives are eager for the law to be upheld so other states may follow our lead and promote the safety of their own citizens. But everything hinges on the next few months. This is a critical moment in the debate over immigration policy, and advocates of a secure border will need to be fully engaged in this unprecedented showdown with the federal government.

Today, Congressional candidate Sam Crump commemorates Independence Day by speaking to churchgoers in Scottsdale and appearing on Terry Gilberg’s radio show on KFYI 550 AM at 8 p.m.

Crump, a U.S. Army veteran, said he is especially proud of our men and women in uniform who are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. “Our military has answered our nation’s call once again,” said Crump. “Like our forefathers, today’s soldiers are asked to defend our nation and be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice.”

Crump also said he is honored to have the freedom to be a candidate for the United States Congress, where he is seeking to replace the retiring John Shadegg. “Just being able to speak freely on my ideas for the future of this country is a blessing,” said Crump. “I’ve traveled to third world countries in Africa where people don’t have the same liberties.” The future of the United States is very much a concern, said Crump. “In my 45 years on this earth I have never seen a regime like Obama, Pelosi and Reid pose such a threat to this nation,” he said. “They have passed unconstitutional laws like Obamacare and, unless we put a stop to it in November, they will continue to erode our liberties with Cap & Tax on everyone and amnesty for illegal aliens.”

“Today we celebrate our independence from a tyrannical government over two hundred years ago,” Crump said. “Our challenge now is to preserve the freedoms that our ancestors won for us.”

Sam Crump is the leading conservative in the crowded Primary Election for Congressional District 3. He is endorsed by former Senator Fred Thompson and former Congressman Tom Tancredo.

Team America eagerly endorses Sam Crump for Arizona’s Third District. According to Team America Chairman Bay Buchanan, “Sam Crump is the only candidate in this race that will fight for real immigration reform in Washington.”

Crump is in a crowded primary race against several candidates who openly support guest worker programs. In the Arizona state legislature Sam Crump was a strong advocate for immigration enforcement and will continue to be in the United States House of Representatives.

“By sending Sam Crump to Congress we will be electing a leader that we can count on to vehemently oppose the open borders lobby in Washington,” added Buchanan.

Team America is a political action committee founded by former chair of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus Tom Tancredo that is dedicated to opposing amnesty and controlling our borders.

In addition to serving as Chairman of Team America, long time conservative activist Bay Buchanan is commentator for CNN and president of the conservative educational foundation The American Cause.

As if hundreds of billions of dollars spent on stimulus packages, auto bailouts and Obamacare were not enough, liberals in Congress have another surprise in store for the American taxpayer. Sen. Bob Casey is pushing legislation that would force average citizens to foot the bill for union pension plans that have been grossly mismanaged. Yes, Congress has concocted another bailout for a politically favorable group.

Considering that Social Security and Medicare are going bankrupt, it is all the more preposterous that we are being asked to bailout union pension plans. Hardworking Americans who have paid into Social Security and Medicare all their lives may not receive the benefits they have earned, but this Congress is ensuring that union members are rewarded with pensions that have been consistently underfunded.

NO UNION BAILOUT FOR IRRESPONSIBLE PENSION PLANS!

Whatever happened to the notion of personal responsibility? Do not allow for the bedrock principles of our country to be chipped away by partisan politicians who are more concerned with the unions than their own constituents.

After all, unions account for a critical portion of Democratic base. It will take a powerful, engaged opposition to overcome the Obama, Reid, and Pelosi Machine, and we need your help to make it happen.

Do not be fooled by the “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it” approach that has recently become a staple of this government. Show Congress that you know what’s in this bill and that you want absolutely no part of it. With Card Check legislation currently stalled, Congress has found a new way to both promote unions and inflate the federal deficit, seemingly two of its favorite activities.

Casey intends to shift billions of dollars in unpaid retiree liabilities to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, and it should be of no surprise that the PBGC would be paying for these benefits with taxpayer dollars. If the bill is passed, it has an estimated cost of up to 165 billion dollars. However, the taxpayer’s liability could be unlimited since these pensions are intended to be paid throughout the duration of each worker’s life.

The Wall Street Journal went as far as to describe this as “a sort of pension Ponzi scheme.”

Multi-employer pension plans operate when companies spanning across an entire industry pay into a single pension pool. Various unions organize and administer these plans, and they have a historical reputation of being very poorly managed. In 2008, the Labor Department noted that 230 multi-employer plans were less than 80-percent funded. In many cases, the plans were under 65-percent funded or had applied to the government for financial relief.

By 2009, this number grew to an astounding 640 plans. That’s right, in just one year the number of severely underfunded pension plans nearly tripled. How high will that figure skyrocket in 2010? Do not be persuaded by the argument that the financial collapse is to blame for these mismanaged pensions. Before the major economic problems, in 2006, a mere 6 percent of multi-employer plans were fully funded.

Unions love to back multi-employer set-ups because they encourage lifelong union membership. Under these plans, workers are able to keep their retirement benefits even if they switch jobs, as long as the new job is with a participating company. Furthermore, this bill will encourage more companies to unionize, since it will become easy to unload unfinanced pension debts to innocent taxpayers.

For countless years, the promise of hefty, secure pensions throughout retirement has been a key-organizing tactic for labor unions. Needless to say, the pension plans become more and more unsustainable as time wears on, and the unions have repeatedly failed to take the responsible steps of raising the retirement age, cutting benefits, or contributing to the fund using union dues.

Union leaders are much more interested in ensuring reelection than in ensuring that pension plans are well funded. Whenever it is time to renew collective contracts, they push hard for wage increases and various new benefits, but seemingly always neglect to finance the pension plans. This, of course, would involve passing on some cost to employers, which would not help one’s chances of winning reelection.

The unions have made their bed. Let them sleep in it. Their inability to finance ridiculous pension plans should not create yet another obligation for U.S. taxpayers. Americans have enough on their plate as it is.

On this Memorial Day 2010, my thoughts and prayers are with those families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. As Americans, we thank the soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice, and we honor the families who have shared in that sacrifice.

As an Army JAG officer, I served in Germany during the first Gulf War in the early 1990’s. My unit was the Second Armored Division (Forward), which had been deployed to the Gulf. I remained in Germany. However, the price of war hit home for me when our unit lost nine soldiers to so-called “friendly fire”. I had the heart-wrenching experience of helping widows with their legal affairs and also assisting returning soldiers who survived but were disfigured.

I’ll never forget talking to our commanding officer after our unit returned from the war and discussing the loss of our soldiers. He had three simple words for me: “War is hell.” Indeed.

To those who have died in the service to our country, there are no words to thank them enough. To those who are in harm’s way today so the rest of us may enjoy the liberty and freedom of America, I say Godspeed and come home soon.

Former Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) has endorsed Sam Crump in his campaign to represent Arizona’s Third Congressional District.

In his endorsement of Crump, Tancredo said “I heartily endorse Sam Crump for the U.S. Congress and urge every voter who cares about the issues of border security, national security, and fighting illegal immigration, to stand with Sam and cast your vote for him in the Republican Primary on August 24th.”

Tancredo added “Sam has the experience and a proven track record of fighting for those ideals and the people who make our country great, and those qualities distinguish him from the rest of the field.”

Tancredo served 10 years in the U.S. Congress, where he became a leading advocate for securing the country’s borders and working tirelessly to fight illegal immigration. Tancredo is considered a leading conservative voice upholding the principles of Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, and he compiled an impressive 99 rating from the American Conservative Union.

Crump thanked Tancredo for his endorsement and commented “It is an honor to gain the support of a true patriot like Tom Tancredo. He understands the dangers posed by illegal immigration and spoke on this matter long before most others had. I look forward to continuing to fight to secure our borders and defend our nation when I am elected to Congress.”
